Jim has been a resident of Lakeland since the Fall of
2009 when he relocated from Cooperstown, NY to join the Sun
‘n Fun organization as its Director, Corporate Marketing &
Communications.
Before his move to Florida, Jim resided in Cooperstown, NY,
where he was the founding partner of marketing consultant
firm “The MB Group” which he opened in 1989 after relocating
from Manhattan in order to raise two remarkable sons, Wesley
and Quinn. Over his 20 years in the village that celebrates
America’s Pastime and Times Past, he was active in youth
soccer and in local civic associations including the Friends
of Bassett Hospital, Otsego 2000 (cultural and architectural
preservation) and the Otsego County Conservation Association
(environmental stewardship) with whom he served as a board
member and president.
Jim’s firm, The MB Group, served the marketing needs of a
diverse range of clients which included a historic resort,
art and rural life museums, sports center and miscellaneous
new product ventures. During the recent decade his firm
served as marketing counsel to FLYING magazine, the oldest
enthusiast publication serving the general aviation
community. It was through his work with FLYING that he
established his relationship with the SUN 'n FUN
organization.
Prior to his move to Cooperstown, he held positions in
marketing and advertising in New York City and Los Angeles.
During that time, he was associated with FCB (Foote, Cone &
Belding) Communication, one of the world’s largest
international advertising agencies. As a Senior Vice
President in FCB’s New York office, he was responsible for
the management of the agency's services to AT&T and Nabisco.
Jim’s affiliation with FCB began in Los Angeles in 1981 when
he assumed responsibility for the agency's service to
Atlantic Richfield (ARCO). Prior to his tenure in Los
Angeles, Jim was associated with Nabisco for 11 years.
Before joining Nabisco, Jim worked with two advertising
agencies headquartered in New York City, McManus, John and
Adams, Inc., and Warwick and Legler.
Jim received his bachelor of art (BA) degree from Wesleyan
University in Middletown, CT. His formative years were in
the rural-like suburbs of New York City including Yonkers
and Yorktown Heights, NY.
