Bob D. Bishop

Retired Law Enforcement

Bob served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War then returned to the University of Florida and graduated in 1960. His career in law enforcement started in 1964 as a Special Agent with the State Beverage Department. He served as District Commander of the 4th District serving Polk, Highlands and Hardee Counties from 1981 to 1996. He retired at the rank of Captain from the State Beverage Department after a successful 32 year career.


Bob is a lifetime member of the Polk County Police Chiefs Association, the Florida Peace Officers Association, and Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #46. He is also a member of the Tampa Bay Area Chiefs Association. He is an active Lakeland South Rotarian—a member since 1987. He served as Sergeant at Arms for 10 years, and was elected to the Rotary Hall of Fame in 2006.


Bob is a member of the Polk County Gator Club and attends Southside Baptist Church. His hobbies include antique cars, hunting, photography, and firearms.
Bob is married to his beautiful wife, Ladotha (Dottie). He has two adult sons.
