Rotary is an association of approximately 32,000 autonomous clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas. Rotary International is one of the world's largest service organizations. The goal for Lakeland South Rotary’s membership is maintain an up-to-date and progressive representation of the community's business, vocational, and professional interests.
An important distinction between Rotary and other organizations is that membership in any Rotary Club is by invitation only. Often a person being considered for membership is invited by a member/sponsor to attend one or more club meetings to learn more about Rotary. The sponsor may then submit the name of the candidate to the club's membership committee.
An individual who is interested in membership, but doesn't know any Rotarians, is encouraged to contact the Lakeland South Rotary Club directly by completing our [link] Prospective Member Contact Form or visiting us at our Friday lunch meeting.

Prospective members must:
Lakeland South Rotary is built upon fellowship and friendships which develop from attendance at meetings, fun forums, and community projects. It is understood that among busy professionals, a full personal and professional calendar is always a challenge to manage. An attendance record of 60% is required to remain an active Rotarian. Missed meetings may be made up at a variety of club sponsored events, meetings, activities, or even on line. A surprisingly large number of our members have a perfect or nearly perfect attendance record.
One of the many benefits of Rotary Club membership is the convenience and fun of being able to travel the world and never miss a meeting. Club members are welcome and encouraged to visit clubs while traveling to meet other Rotarians.
Our initiation fee is $100, which includes your Rotary pin, membership certificate, and other Rotary materials. Annual dues are $350, and you will receive a subscription to the monthly Rotarian Magazine. Lunch cost is $16 per week. There are other miscellaneous costs to participate in club events.
Our members are also expected to make a commitment of their time, by participating in local or international activities or projects of the Lakeland South Rotary Club. These include both service projects and social events. In addition, we encourage members to aspire to leadership or committee roles within both our Club and our Rotary District.
There are many reasons to join Lakeland South Rotary:
An original goal of Rotary was to allow club members to meet
periodically and enlarge their circle of business and
professional acquaintances. As members of the oldest service
club in the world, Rotarians represent a cross-section of
their community’s business owners, executives, managers,
political leaders, and professionals – people who make
decisions and influence policy. Lakeland South Rotary
meets every Friday at noon at the Lakeland Yacht & Country
Club.
Club members have many opportunities for humanitarian and
charitable service, both locally and internationally.
Service programs address concerns such as health care,
hunger, poverty, illiteracy, civic engagement, quality of
life issues, and the environment. Lakeland South Rotary
especially supports charities and programs that encourage
personal accountability, self help, education and character
development for our youth, and quality parks and civic
programs. Rotarians regularly experience the fulfillment
that comes from giving back to the community.
Rotary was founded on fellowship, a cornerstone that
continues to attract members today. Lakeland South Rotarians
enjoy camaraderie with a wide cross-section of
professionals, and club projects provide opportunities to
develop enduring friendships. Club members who travel have
friendly contacts in almost every city of the world.
Lakeland South Rotary Fun Forums are held monthly--members
socialize at a local establishments and have a great time.
Other social events are scheduled throughout the year--we
are a club that likes to have fun!
Rotary sponsors some of the world’s largest exchange and
educational programs. Rotary clubs provide innovative
training opportunities and mentoring for young leaders, and
they involve family members in a wide range of social and
service activities.
Encouraging high ethical standards and respect for all worthy vocations has been a hallmark of Rotary from its earliest days. In their business and professional lives, Rotarians abide by The Four-Way Test:
Of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Lakeland South Rotary is an organization of successful young professionals, business executives and active retirees. Team-building, fundraising, public speaking, planning, organization, and communication are just some of the leadership skills that club members can exercise and enhance. Being a Rotary leader provides further experience in motivating, inspiring, and guiding others.
