Straughn Trout Architects, LLC is a multi-disciplined firm established in Lakeland in 1957 with over "FIVE MILLION SQUARE FEET" of successful projects; 2009 American Institute of Architects Tampa Bay Merit Award recipient; Designers of Florida's first "NET ZERO ENERGY" commercial building and 2005 Lakeland Chamber "SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR".

Jerry was born in Akron, Ohio and has resided in Florida for most of his life and in Lakeland since 1974. He is a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran. He holds degrees from Polk Community College and Auburn University and is licensed to practice Architecture in Florida with past licenses in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, New York and Connecticut.

In 1993 A. Ernest Straughn, AIA invited Jerry to be Partner in his architectural firm founded in 1957. Jerry has designed many successful public and private projects including: Larry R. Jackson Branch Library; Hall Communications office building; multiple projects for the Polk County School Board, Polk State College, the City of Lakeland and Polk County; Prototype designs for Platinum Bank and Magnify Credit Union to name a few.

Jerry is past President of Lakeland South Rotary; past board member Polk County Code Enforcement, Board of Adjustments, Polk Museum of Art, Imperial Symphony and Florida Public Library. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

Jerry and his wife, Sue have two children, Whitney Erin and Matthew Alan. Jerry is a Paul Harris Fellow.
