The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is a full service law enforcement agency serving Polk County, Florida—it is the 8th largest law enforcement jurisdiction in Florida. The agency is headquartered in Winter Haven, employs 1,862 full and part-time employees, and provides patrol, investigation, law enforcement, jail, and courtroom security services throughout Polk County.

Scott was born in Jacksonville, Florida and grew up in Winter Haven, attending public schools. He is a communications professional with many years of varied experience working with public agencies, the news media, and the community. Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stetson University, Deland, FL, a Certified Public Manager designation from the Florida Center for Public Management, Florida State University, graduated from the Senior Leadership Program of the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, and has earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Troy University, Troy, AL.


Some of Scott’s community involvement include: Polk County RSVP Council (board member), member of the original Polk County Charter Commission, Heartland Crime Stoppers (past board member), Polk County Republican Executive Committee, and the Polk County Tiger Bay Club. He is a strong supporter of the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches (Builder), the United Way, Rotary, and Polk Sheriff’s Charities.
